Miles Stone of Xero Flor International GmbH

XERO FLOR International GmbH is the owner of numerous patents and grants licences for xero flor worldwide. Xero Flor history starts in 1972 with the cultivation of turf.

In 1972 the company Strodthoff & Behrens was founded; one of its founders was Wolfgang Behrens, today the sole shareholder of XERO FLOR International GmbH.
           
From the turf for sports grounds and gardens green-systems for embankments and watersides developed. First vegetation blankets on plastic reinforcements came up. 

1974 is the year of the first green roof and the first patent. Many more will follow.  In 1981 Wolfgang Behrens Systementwicklung is founded in order to manage them.

In 1992 Xero Flor establish test site in Ortholz to advance research and development for the green roof.
Many patents have been the result and the number of international licensees grows more and more.

In 2008 Wolfgang Behrens Systementwicklung turns into XERO FLOR International GmbH.

In 2010, Xero Flor Asia Pacific Limited was appointed as the Licensee of Xero Flor International GmbH, and built the first nursery in Hong Kong for research and enhancement of Xero Flor system to accomodate Asian climate enviroment.
